Why Revive K. Rool in DKC and Smash?

Hello, dear visitor, and welcome to the headquarters of the Kremling Kampaign movement.

UPDATE: Vote K. Rool for first Smash Bros. DLC newcomer here (https://cp.nintendo.co.jp/us/)! #KrocTheVote

For the past few months, this site has been exclusively in support of K. Rool as a DLC fighter in Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U/Nintendo 3DS, where his baffling exclusion has been unfortunately confirmed as of late.

But not anymore.

Oh, no, it’s time we start expanding our horizons.

It’s about bloody time for his finest hour already!

Whether it’s Nintendo and Retro Studios in newer Donkey Kong Country games or Namco Bandai and Masahiro Sakurai in the latest Smash Bros., K. Rool has been left completely on the back-burner for no good reason whatsoever. And we, the fans, are getting royally tired of it.

We strongly disagree with the notion seemingly espoused by the above developers that “we don’t know what we want, and need to be shown what we want.” We very much know what we want, and it has remained constant throughout years of positive and negative developments in the Smash Bros. and Donkey Kong series: we want K. Rool. We do not want him as a Smash boss or any sort of trophy. We do not want him as an afterthought in the minds of Retro’s developers. We want nothing less than him being a playable fighter and a final boss, respectively.

We’re tired of our favorite Kremling King being pushed to the side for what we believe to be less desirable characters, be they playable ones in Smash games or enemy ones in Donkey Kong games. We have a great number of reasons we believe K. Rool to be a fantastic character, a vibrant potential Smash Bros. fighter, and a compelling final boss. And, as such, we don’t intend to stop supporting or discussing K. Rool and our desire for him to fill one or more of these roles until he one day does.

There is perhaps every upside to fleshing out K. Rool as a main modern DKC villain and a DLC Smash fighter, along with zero downsides. Time and time again, all developing parties have yet to recapture the sort of devious insanity and dirty-fighting villainy K. Rool offered in all of his seventeen appearances. That being said, the modern DKC and Smash teams are visibly brimming with ideas, and as the versatile, persona-swapping character he is, K. Rool is a great outlet into which these teams could channel their creative spirit.

Seriously, this is a character who never tried the exact same evil plot twice, and who owns a blunderbuss that can fire virtually any projectile. Just one of the many reasons us fans are over the moon for him.

This website will attempt to lay out exactly why K. Rool should be considered for inclusion in the new DKC and Smash titles in a manner that is informative, yet concise. Each of this site’s tabs feature compelling reasons to revive the character, separated out for the sake of neatness.

In addition, I have included a ‘Supporter Comments’ tab as well; here, I will post up some of the best comments supporters make on this and other sites arguing in K. Rool’s favor. I have also included a ‘Ways to Advocate for K. Rool’ tab, where I have listed out a number of strategies for contacting higher-ups at Nintendo, Retro and Namco to hear our request.

I sincerely hope all readers, be they random members of Smash forums or lurking Nintendo/Retro/Namco employees, find this site both enlightening and enjoyable, and that they respectively either support or select K. Rool to be the starring villain of a new DKC and as one of Smash’s first DLC fighters.

Long live the King!
